2010 - The Year of Buffyclub

Over this past year, we have gotten together regularly with a couple of friends and watched all of the seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.  We started in January and will finish this week.  Going into it, I had never seen a single episode of either but had seen the movie.  I had a couple of friends who really liked the shows and 1 out of the 4 in our group had seen the whole thing before.  It wasn't long before I became a huge fan of the series and the characters.  I highly recommend checking out the series if you haven't yet.  The 1st season was a little weak but by season 2 it really got going.  I can't wait to finish Angel so I can start on the Buffy Season 8 comics.

Here are a couple of paintings I did of Buffy and Angel in the style of Bruce Timm (Batman the Animated Series, Superman the Animated Series, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited).  Both are acrylic paint on 12"x24" canvas.

Thug Life

Here's a recent painting inspired by the NES.  It's acrylic paint on a 16"x20" canvas.  I've got another NES related painting that I will post soon.

Check out these do-it-yourself Star Wars themed snowflakes.  We made a bunch for our Christmas party and they turned out great.  Here are a Darth Vader and a Boba Fett / Clone Trooper combination.

re: Grab It and Go Art and Craft Sale

Thanks to everyone that came out to the Grab It and Go Art and Craft Sale @ The Gallery at East Atlanta Tattoo yesterday.  And thanks to the Really Big Santa.  He was great with the kids especially my little one.  She didn't quite make it up to the photo taking but she did manage to talk to him and not cry for the 1st time.  And really big thanks to Dirk for putting it together.  Not only does he put on art shows, he also gives a nice tattoo.  Go check him out!

If you haven't yet, check out Adam Watson's " "Dr. Seuss does Star Wars" series of drawings.  These are amazing. My favorites are the Jabba and Obi-Wan pieces.  Awesome stuff.

Wizardworld Atlanta Comic Con 2010

When Wizard announced they were adding Atlanta to their convention schedule, I was excited.  It would be Atlanta's biggest true comic book convention.  Dragon*Con is a great and all but comics are just a small piece of the convention.  I got my 2-day pass really cheap because I ordered early.  Because of too many things going on this past weekend, I was only able to go on Sunday.

Re: I'm going to be in a movie (kinda/maybe)!

So I mentioned before that there is a chance some of my artwork may be in a movie.  I met someone who is working on the movie at the ICE Holiday Shopping Spectacular. He recognized my Batboy painting as one he had just hung for a scene.  He said that it was shown pretty predominately in the shot.  So there is a really good chance of it actually making it on-screen as long as that scene doesn't get cut.

Here is some more info on the movie via Disneydreaming.com:

ABC Family has announced a new original movie called “Always and Forever” (this title may change). The movie will star Sara Rue, Barry Watson, Valerie Harper and Fred Willard and is set to premiere on the television channel in the Spring of 2011. Filming for “Always and Forever” has already begun in Atlanta, Georgia.

In the movie Barry’s character, Pax, comes from the future, where there isn’t love. He visits present day New Orleans in search of romance novelist Elizabeth Barrett, played by Sara, whose book his culture found during an archeological dig in the year 3125. Pax hopes that Elizabeth will be able to describe the concept of love to him so he can bring it back to the future.

In the movie Valerie will play a colleague of Elizabeth’s, and Fred will play the character Bob who is Pax’s superior in the future who helps him go back in time.

“Always and Forever” is directed by Michael Lange (“Greek,” “Drop Dead Diva”) and written by James Orr and Jim Cruickshank while James, Rob Lee and Craig McNeil will be executive producers.

new work!

I've seen a bunch pictures of famous paintings with Star Wars elements photoshopped into them. I liked them a lot and decided to give it a try too. I was very happy with my 1st attempt (Death Starry Night) so here is my 2nd one. This one is based on Andrew Wyeth's "Christina's World".

LEIA'S WORLD

I've got a couple more I've either started working on or thinking about. I will post them as soon as I finish.
